August 20th, 2017 - National Women's Equality Day

Saturday, August 26th, is National Women's Equality Day, where we celebrate the victory of the women's suffage movement in the United States that resulted in the addition of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution and forever more guaranteed women's right to vote! We'll talk about the day, the sister movement that took place in England, the history of the U.S. movement, some lessons we can still take from the early 20th century victory, and close with some final words from the Reverend.

August 13th, 2017 - Best of-International Marconi Day

Saturday, April 22nd, is a day that's very special to us here at the Church of Classic Rock, as well as for SoR Radio, and radio enthusiasts and practitioners around the globe! It's the day we celebrate the father of radio, Guglielmo Marconi. We call it "International Marconi Day." The Reverend introduces you to the day, explores why radio is still a media force to be reckoned with in the 21st century, digs into a (brief) history of radio as a medium, talks about the role radio and music played in the counterculture movement of the 60s and early 70s, and shares some early, personal memories of radio and why he's still addicted to it, even after all these years!

Monday, May 22nd, is the day dedicated to celebrating the adventures of the most famous detective who never lived: Sherlock Holmes! Join the Reverend Jeff Smith for a look at Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous export - the adventures of the detective himself, Dr. Watson, Inspector Lestrade, Professor Moriarty,and the other characters of the Holmesian universe! The Reverend also discusses the history and basis for Sherlock Holmes, looks at the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, explores how to think and observe just like Holmes, and explains his own fascination with mystery and attention to detail!

This year, Independence Day, the 4th of July, seems to have taken on new significance. The Reverend Jeff Smith talks about some of the traditions surrounding the 4th of July, how the Declaration of Independence came about, how to find hope in times of tyranny, and then reads, in its entirety, the full Declaration from 1776. And he ends with some personal reflections on how Independence Day has taken on a new significance in a "trumped-up" world.
